GC FFA @ District 12 LDEs

  This month has been very busy for the Garden County FFA chapter. We started the month off with fruit and popcorn sales; our FFA kids would like to thank everyone for supporting our chapter. Another exciting thing we did this month was host games during the Sheriff’s office fundraiser. We had lots of kids come out and interact with the chapter and play fun games! We also had our first competition of the year on the 18th. One of our teams qualified for state FFA!  The parliamentary procedures team which includes Trey Kirch, Kamry Kramer, Nick Alworth, Jena Spady, Emily Levick, and Kyle Rote qualified for state with a second-place purple ribbon! The rest of the competitors did a great job too! 21-22 Garden County FFA Announcements

This school year we have a new team of officers and new members. In April the new officer team was elected from interviews. Kamry Kramer as President, Trey Kirch, and Jena Spady as Vice Presidents, Taylor Fornander as the secretary, Wyland Lobner as the Treasurer, Madie Rauch as the Reporter, Morgan Ross as the Historian, Gunner Roberson as the Parliamentarian, and Kaylee Leach as the Sentinel.  Back Row: Morgan Ross, Madie Rauch, Gunner Roberson, Wyland Lobner Front Row: Taylor Fornander, Jena Spady, Kamry Kramer, and Trey Kirch On September 14, the FFA officers went to Gering for the FFA EDGE 2021 leadership conference. Here they learned about becoming better leaders and helping build their chapter. We met and talked with other chapters from around the area about leadership. Garden County Ag Safety Day Held for 3rd and 4th Graders

Garden County Ag Safety Day Held for 3rd and 4th Graders By Sarah Paisley Garden County FFA Chapter in cooperation with the Garden County Extension Office hosted the third annual Garden County Ag Safety Day at the Garden County High School on May 10th.  FFA members planned and presented safety topics throughout the afternoon.  The entire program, including materials, snacks, and t-shirt were funded by the Garden County Turner Board. To start the day off, Extension Educator, Sarah Paisley, gave a short presentation on the need for agricultural safety and sun safety.  The elementary youth then rotated through the following station topics: Animal Safety, with the help of a goat, duck, chicken, and a dog; tractor safety, with a tractor provided by Ardissono Farms; UTV/ATV safety, with equipment provided by Paisley's; bicycle safety; and environmental safety, learning about snakes, ticks, and weather emergencies as well as how to use 911.  Because of the weather, some of ...

GC FFA Competes at the Nebraska State FFA Convention

The Garden County FFA Chapter recently competed at the state level.  Due to COVID-19, the State FFA Convention was held as a virtual competition.  Students competed at the state level in Conduct of Chapter Meeting, Environmental and Natural Resource, and Meat Evaluation.  Chris Loyd, Carter Dormann, Wyand Lobner, Gunner Roberson, Kyle Rote, Zeke Christiansen, Gavin Hunt, and in the back Sarah Paisley The CCM team, coached by Sarah Paisley and consisting of Zeke Christiansen, Gunner Roberson, Kyle Rote, Chris Loyd, Gavin Hunt, and Carter Dormann, gave a demonstration to judges virtual and completed a test about Robert's Rules of order. NJAS AHEC Panhandle Regional Science Fair Results

Today  the Garden County Junior High local science fair winners competed at the Regional NJAS AHEC science fair virtually. Three contestants from each grade that won our local fair participated in today's judging. (See Science Fair Winners Blog Article ). The top six participants in grades six, seven, and eight for the Panhandle region will move on to participate in the Nebraska Junior Academy of Science Virtual State F air on April 1, 2021. Two Garden County students will move on to participate in this state fair. Congratulations to Olivia Christiansen for placing fifth and Abilene Miller for placing sixth place. Also participating today were Eldon Lambert, Kyan Kramer, Luke Gardner, Hailey Weih, Javis Underwood, Jase Roberson, and Natalie Coss.
