GC FFA competes at District 12 Career Development Events in Gordon

 Twelve Garden County FFA members competed at the District 12 Career Development Events in Gordon on February 5.   Carver Corfield received a red ribbon in Veterinary Science, the rest of the team included Bre Yates, Kirstyn Beberniss, and Cable Larsen. Kyan Kramer, Kole Fornander, Jana Spencer, and Javis Underwood competed in Food Science. Eli Smith received a white ribbon in the equipment portion of the Agriculture Mechanics competitions.  Korryn Beberniss competed in the electricity, Chris Clark in hydraulics, and Jase Roberson competed in small engines port of the competition.

2025 Nebraska FFA District 12 Career Development Events Results from Scottsbluff

 On January 8 the Garden County FFA Chapter went to the Nebraska District 12 Career Developed Events that were held at Scottsbluff. We had four team participate in Agriculture Sales, Floriculture, Livestock Management, and Welding.   The Welding team got a White Ribbon, placing in fifth place and qualifying for state. Carver Corfield competed in TIG, Chris Clark competed in GMAW and placed 7th, Jase Roberson competed in SMAW getting second place and a Blue ribbon, and Wilsie Lobner competed in Oxyacetylene welding.   The Ag Sales Team included Chanley Loomis getting a red ribbon, Jadynn Dawkins, Javis Underwood, and Kenley Dehning.  The Livestock Management Teams consisted of Bre Yates, Korryn Beberniss, Carolina Schwab, Rainee Olson, Kirstyn Beberniss, and Kelbi Cooper.  The Floriculture team consisted of Ridglyn Stanczyk, Jana Spencer, Karma Peterson, and Gracie Loyd got a Blue ribbon.  By GC FFA Report Bre Yates

2024 LDEs

 Today, twenty-two Garden County FFA members competed in the Nebraska FFA District 12 Leadership Development Events held at Chadron State College. The Conduct of Chapter Meeting Team consisting of Oliver Davis, Chanley Loomis, Victor Rueda, Kenley Dehning, Gradie Loyd, Jadynn Dawkins, and Rainee Olson received a blue ribbon. Jase Roberson competed in Natural Resource Speaking and received a blue ribbon.   Eli Smith and Javis Underwood both competed in Junior Public Speaking and both earned blue ribbons. Carolina Schwab competed in Employment Skills at received a red ribbon. The Animal Science Agriculture Demonstration Team, consisting of Caver Corfield. Kelbi Cooper, Kirstyn Beberniss, Bre Yates, and Cable Larsen received a white ribbon. Korryn Beberniss earned a white ribbon in Senior Public Speaking. 2024 Livestock & Poultry Evaluation

Twenty-one Garden County FFA members participated in the Nebraska FFA District 12 Livestock Judging Career Development Events at the Box Butte County Fair Ground in Hemingford on October 14, 2024.  Sr. Livestock members: Kole Fornander, Ridglyn Stanczyk, Jase Roberson, Bre Yates, Javis Underwood, Karma Peterson, and Carver Corfield Jase Roberson (blue ribbon), Carver Corfield (blue ribbon), Karma Peterson (white ribbon), and Bre Yates (white ribbon) qualified to compete at the Nebraska State FFA Competition in April by placing 6th and receiving a white ribbon as a team. 2024 Ag Safety Day

 The 7th annual Ag safety day was held on October 2. The Garden County 3rd graders were the third group to attend this event on the Farm. This event is hosted by the Garden County Extension Office and the Garden County FFA Chapter. The FFA members were in charge of cooking the meal and presenting and creating sessions for the 3rd graders to go through.  Starting the day off, Extension Educator, Sarah Paisley, gave a presentation on sun safety, afterward the 3rd graders would go on to rotate through the following Ag topics: Animal Safety, with the help of a chicken, horse, and dog; environmental safety, learning about wildlife and how to be prepared in the outdoors; and personal protective equipment where youth talked about chemical safety while tie-dying their own Ag Safety Day t-shirt. To help them learn more about where the food we eat comes from, the lunch was full of Garden County AG products.  After lunch, the group headed off on a farm tour. Rich and Dorene Paisley ...

GC FFA Attends the 96th Nebraska FFA Convention

Karma Peterson, GC FFA Reporter 23-24 The 2024 Garden County State FFA members traveled and arrived in Lincoln late on Tuesday, April 2nd. On Wednesday, members competed in the Agriscience Fair, Environmental and Natural Resources, Agribusiness, and Farm Management. The Hall of Chapters girls also set up and presented. We went to the UNL welcome on the east campus and ate ice cream from the Dairy Store. Then we all attended the opening evening session. The keynote speaker, Rob Jones, spoke about his recovery from an IED injury and how he had resilience while encouraging us to be resilient as we face life’s challenges. He also spoke about how one moment can change your life forever.  On Thursday, members attended session two, where they received their Connecting Chapters recognition certificate. After that, we all went to the Lincoln Children's Zoo where we rode the train, fed the giraffes, and viewed many other exotic animals. After this, we went to session three and members compet...
