The Garden County Ag Sales Team are District Champs!

Garden County Ag Sales Team: Logan Levick, Karma Peterson, Jenason Spady, and Carver Corfield

    The Garden County FFA Chapter competed at the Nebraska FFA District 12 Career Development Event in Scottsbluff on January 11, 2023.  The members competed on teams in ag sales, floriculture, livestock management, and welding.
    This year's ag sales event had members selling varieties of wheat to potential customers. Team members Logan Levick and Carver Corfield individually received white ribbons, Karma Peterson received a second place purple, and Jenason Spady earned the top individual place, receiving a championship place and first place purple.  As a team, they finished in the first place, receiving a first place purple ribbon and plaque.  The team qualifies for state and will compete at the Nebraska State FFA Convention in Lincoln, March 29 -31.

    The welding team consisted of four different welders.  Each welder competes in a specific type of welding.  They complete a test over that type of welding and then construct a piece from a blueprint.  The team finished in seventh place this year.  Only the top five teams qualify for state.

Welding Team: Gunner Roberson, Zeke Christiansen, Wade Dodge, and Carter Dormann

    Wade Dodge competed in gas tungsten arc welding (TIG) with some impressive welds.  Carter Dorman competed in gas metal arc welding (MIG) and placed sixth place. Zeke Christiansen competed in shield metal arc welding (stick) he also placed sixth.  Gunner Roberson competed in oxyacetylene (OA) welding and placed second.

    This year in floriculture the team had to arrange two boutonnieres, a corsage, and a handheld bouquet. 

They also identify fifty flowers and took a test on floriculture. Ridglyn Stanczyk earned a white ribbon.
This year's team: Lacey Reyman, Oakley Larson, Breanna Yates, Taylor Fornander, and Ridglyn Stanczyk.

    The livestock management team worked together to complete a test over beef, swine, equine, sheep, and poultry.  This year's team consisted of Branson Anderson, Kyle Rote, Wyland Lobner, and Wilsie Lobner.

Seventeen members of the Garden County FFA Chapter competed in the Nebraska FFA District 12 Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event at the Box Butte Fairground in Hemingford, Nebraska. The junior team placed fifth place, qualifying for the Nebraska FFA State Event in April 2024 while receiving a white ribbon. Javis Underwood, Jase Roberson, Kole Fornander, Cable Larsen, Chris Clark, Kelbi Cooper, Natalie Coss, Jana Spencer, and Carolina Schwab competed in the junior division.  Kelbi earned a blue ribbon, Javis a red ribbon, and Kole earned a white ribbon. Wyland Lobner, Kyan Kramer, Carver Corfield, Breanna Yates, Oakley Larsen, Wilsie Lobner, Kyle Rote, and Branson Anderson competed in the senior division. Carver earned a blue ribbon and Wilsie earned a white ribbon.

GC FFA Results from the 96th Nebraska FFA Convention

Our agriscience fair kids did great!! Carver Corfield received a silver medal in Division 3 of Social Systems, and Jase Roberson and Cable Larsen in Division 4 of Social Science earned the first gold medal. The Farm & Agribusiness Management team, Kyle Rote, Morgan Ross, Kyan Kramer, and Branson Anderson, took a knowledge test and completed a simulation practicum.  Congratulations to Kyle for earning a white ribbon, the team placed 67 out of 96. The Agriscience team, Chris Clark, Cable Larsen, Carolina Schwab, and Jana Spencer, wrote career reports, took an agriscience knowledge test, and completed a flower dissection practicum.  Congratulations to Carolina for earning a white ribbon, the team placed 124 out of 141. Oakley Larsen, Gavin Hunt, Wyland Lobner, and Carter Dormann earned their Nebraska FFA State Degree. Garden County FFA Competes at District 12 FFA Career Development Events at Gordon

 GC FFA Results from District 12 Career Development Events Gordon Our Nebraska FFA District, Number 12, is very competitive with all 21 teams in the panhandle competing for spots at the Nebraska State FFA convention.  The district is allowed to send the top three scoring teams in food science teams, in agriculture mechanics the highest scoring 25% of teams, and the top three scoring teams in veterinarian science.  Our members studied and competed well but did not get a team qualified for the state contest. Agriculture Mechanics Each of the members takes a general agriculture mechanics test over the annual theme.  This year's theme was plant production systems. Then each member of the team completes a practicum in an individual area.
