2025 State FFA Results
Twenty three members of the Garden County FFA Chapter competed at the State FFA April 2 through April 4th.
On Wednesday we spent time on the University of Nebraska Licoln East Campus. The members explored the campus, participated in the Ag Teacher Trading Card Event, and visited the UNL Dairy Store and bought some ice creem. The agriscience fair participents presented their project to the judges. Members also walked through the Nebraska Foundation Expo and visited with varies colleges and employers from the region. Kirstyn, Kelbi, and Cable set up their Hall of Chapters presentation about the top ten commodities in Nebraska. We all attended opening session and listed to John Beede talk about what it takes to climp the highest in the world. He message was to lead with purpose, passion, and perseverance.
Thursday the agriscience fair competitors attended the awards breakfast and we found ou that all of our projects received gold placing ang that they would find their placings during the afternoon session at stage at Pennicle Bank arena. Chanley & Kenley placed 2nd in social science division 4 on their food waste project. Jana in division 3 placed 3rd in environmental science with her bug color attraction project. Gracie & Rainee placed 3rd in plant science division 4 with their ethylene levels project. Ridglyn & Karma WON the social science division 6 category with their egg substitute project! Ridglyn and Karma will send their project on to National FFA in June. It will be judged. If it receives a National Qualifing status they will get to attend the convention in Indianapolis in October.
Our freshman Freeze Fusion team set up a booth at the Engler Pop Up Market. They described how we started the school based enterprise and sold some of their freeze dried products.
Kyan and Kole competed in the Engler Shark Tank competition. Kyan pitched an idea to build golf grips that would help teach the best grips. Kole pitched a business that build lamps from antler sheds. Korryn shared her speech at abou teaching at the Student Showcase Stage. Kirstyn, Kelbi, and Cable played their Nebraska Agriculture trivia game at the Student Showcase Stage.
The welding team and competed Thursday afternoon Wilsie received a blue ribbon in oxyacetalene welding and Chris received a whit ribbon in MIG. Carver competed in TIG and Jase competed in SMAW. The agriscence team also competed Thursday afternoon. The team earned a white ribbon. Gracie received a purple ribbon and Jadynn received a white ribbon. Oliver and Victor also competed on the team. The team had to submit an SAE Portfolio in March, take a test over all agriculture pathways, and dissect a fetal pig and trout.
On Friday the Livestock Evaluation Team competed. They judges eight class, completed two cull keep classes, and gave three sets of oral reasons. The team consisted of Carver, Bre, Eli, and Javis. We returned home Friday evening.
