Junior High Field Trip to Ash Hollow
On November 9, the Garden County Junior High Students attended a field trip at Ash Hollow Historical State Park. Tamara Cooper, superintendent at Ash Hollow, gave the students a tour of the museum and taught them about the Battle of Blue water. Megan Mannary,
Southwest Regional Education Specialist and Tamara also educated the students about the geology, history, and wildlife of the excavation site in the cave that was once a processing site. The students also explored Windlass Hill. In the afternoon, they attended three sessions. A fishing station hosted by Darrol Eichner, Dist 4 Fisheries Biologist Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, a bird survey station taught by Laura, and education specialists from the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, and Meghan Mannary taught the students about the mammals of Western Nebraska.
