GC FFA Competes at District 12 Leadership Development Events

On November 16, the GC FFA Chapter traveled to Chadron State College to compete in the District 12 Leadership Development Events.

Jenason Spady qualified to compete at the Nebraska FFA State Competition in Senior Public Speaking with a second-place purple ribbon.  The state competition is the last week in March in Lincoln.   Jenason’s speech is about how plastic affects our environment.

The ag demonstration team consisting of Morgan Ross, Carter, Dormann, Kade Collins, and Chris Loyd demonstrated how to treat a calf sick with scours and received a blue ribbon.  The team used our Reality Works Calf Simulator that was purchased with a Perkins fund grant.

The Parliamentary Procedures team received a blue ribbon for their demonstration on how to use parliamentary procedures during a formal meeting.  The team consisted of Emily Levick, Kyle Rote, Zeke Christiansen, Jenason Spady, Taylor Fornander, and Wyland Lobner.

The Conduct of Chapter Meeting team consisting of Kyan Kramer, Logan Levick, Karma Peterson, Carver Corfield, Wilsie Lobner, Ridglyn Stanczyk, and Breanna Yates.  They also demonstrate how to use parliamentary procedures to conduct a formal meeting.  We are very thankful for Sarah Paisley taking the team to coach these two teams.

Lacey Reyman received a blue ribbon for the presentation of her Junior Public Speech about the importance of canine vaccinations.

Oakley Larsen and Gavin Hunt both participated in Employment Skills.  For this contest, Oakley and Gavin completed a cover letter, resume, application, an interview, and a follow-up letter.  Oakley received a red ribbon and Gavin received a white ribbon.

The Chapters’ next competition is the District 12 Career Development Events in welding, floriculture, livestock management, and ag sales on January 11 at WNCC in Scottsbluff.  We will also be delivering fruit the first week in December.
