2022 Nebraska State FFA Conventions Results
The Garden County FFA Chapter traveled to Lincoln on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, to participate in the Nebraska FFA Competitions. Nineteen members participated in Leadership Development Events and Career Development Events, attended convention sessions, and explored the career fair.
Wednesday, April 6, 2022, was a day of competition, attending the Husker Welcome on UNL East Campus and exploration of the career fair at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The welding team competed Thursday morning while the Garden County FFA Chapter was recognized on stage at the Pinnacle Bank Arena for their participation in the Nebraska Farm Bureaus Connecting Chapters program. In the afternoon the chapter traveled to Omaha for a back scene tour of the Giraffe Barn at Henery Doorly Zoo. The tour was funded by the Turner Board. Friday was a day of celebration the chapter attended three sessions at the convention to cheer on our chapter’s award winners.
The Parliamentary Procedures team received a Silver Medal.

Taylor Fornander and Wyland Lobner received a second-place silver medal in Agriscience Fair Food Processing Systems in Division 6. They investigated how COVID-19 affects food identification.

The Food Science earned a blue fifth place ribbon the team members include:

The welding team earned a seventh-place blue ribbon with Kenzee Moffat placing in the top ten in shield metal arc welding with a sixth-place purple ribbon. Team members include

The Agricultural Communications team has been preparing for state science in early February. They submitted their media plan to promote former FFA State Officer Jill Brown as a keynote speaker then. At state, they presented a twelve-minute presentation about their plan and completed an ag communications test and proofreading test. The team received the second-highest score on their media plan in the competition.

While at UNL East Campus Trey Kirch signed his intent to major in wildlife biology at UNL.
Big thank you to Jayson Peetzke and Sarah Paisley for chaperoning and chauffeuring. Sarah also coaches our Parliamentary Procedure team. We would also like to thank the Garden County School Board, Administration, and Staff for supporting our efforts throughout the school year. Jerad Peterson and Zane Vapenik also spend time helping coach our welding team. Our success is a team effort.
